Our Goal
Dorm Room Blueprint exists to give college students honest, practical information for setting up and living in a dorm room. Every piece of content on this site is written with that goal in mind — not to generate clicks or maximize affiliate commissions.
We aim to be the kind of resource you would actually trust: straightforward, clear about what we know and do not know, and free of hype.
How Content Is Created
Articles and guides on this site are produced through a combination of research, writing, and review. Sources include publicly available product information, manufacturer specifications, published reviews, student housing guidelines, and general knowledge of dorm room living.
Content goes through a review step before it is published. The goal of review is to catch inaccurate claims, misleading language, unsupported recommendations, or anything that could lead a reader to make a bad decision.
Use of AI Tools
Dorm Room Blueprint may use AI tools (such as large language models) to assist with parts of the content creation process, including:
- Drafting article outlines and first drafts
- Generating or refining written content
- Writing or debugging website code
- Creating placeholder or illustrative images
AI-assisted content is not published without human review. A human reads and edits all AI-generated text before it goes live. The goal of that review is to verify accuracy, remove errors or hallucinated facts, and make sure the content meets the editorial standards described on this page.
We do not treat AI output as a finished product. It is a starting point that is checked and improved before it reaches you.
Product Claims and Testing
When we describe a product's features, quality, or suitability, we are clear about the basis for that claim:
- Research-based recommendations — when a product is included based on specifications, published reviews, or general research, we do not imply that we have personally tested it.
- Tested recommendations — if a product has been used or tested by the site owner, this will be stated explicitly. We do not make "personally tested" claims unless the site owner has provided specific testing notes.
- No fake testing — we do not fabricate hands-on experience. Saying "we tested this" or "we use this every day" without that being true is dishonest, and we do not do it.
Product descriptions are informational. They are not a guarantee of performance, quality, or suitability for your specific situation. Results and experiences vary.
Affiliate Relationships and Editorial Independence
Some links on this site are affiliate links. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products are recommended or how content about them is written. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage, guaranteed placement in a guide, or favorable framing of a product.
All pages that contain affiliate links include a clear disclosure. See the full Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Sponsored Content
If this site ever publishes content that a brand has paid for or directly contributed to, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored at the top of the page. Sponsored content does not alter our editorial standards. We will not publish sponsored content that conflicts with what we believe is accurate and in the best interest of our readers.
Accuracy and Updates
We do our best to keep information current, but product availability, pricing, school policies, and other details change over time. We cannot guarantee that every piece of information on this site is up to date at the moment you read it.
If you notice something that appears outdated or incorrect, please let us know — we review and update content when errors are identified.
Corrections
If a factual error is found on this site, we will correct it as quickly as possible. Significant factual corrections will be noted in the article where they occurred — we do not quietly rewrite content and pretend the error did not happen.
To request a correction: use the Contact page and describe the error and the page it appears on. We take correction requests seriously and respond to all of them.
Contact
Questions about our editorial standards, content decisions, or how to request a correction can all be sent via the Contact page.
